Whew! Where did the summer go? We here at Sun Belt had a blast and it was because of your continued support of our martial arts programs. There are a lot of exciting changes upcoming and I would like to go over them with you.

First of all, we held a color belt testing on Friday, August 20th. The format of this testing was different than any other testing that we have hosted before. The testing  on Friday covered the more exciting aspects of our style. Students were asked to demonstrate their hand techniques, kicks, step sparring, and knowledge requirements during class time the week of testing. The testing on Friday then only consisted of their previous pattern, current pattern, self-defense, and board breaking. The other new aspect to testing was the fitness evaluation and enthusiasm scores. Enthusiasm involved proper martial spirit and eagerness to do well. Fitness Evaluation included the students physical readiness. With the new format testing, we needed less time to get through our requirements. Therefore, the kids portion of testing went from 5pm - 6pm and adults were from 6pm-7pm. 

 Secondly, as you may have heard, we are moving our school to a new and exciting location. We are moving to the Mandarin Emporium Shopping Center on San Jose Blvd. The shopping center is located directly across from Target and Publix on San Jose about 1 mile north of I-295 in the Walgreens Shopping Center. The new address is 10501 Ste 1 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32257. I will need help moving the furniture of the school on Saturday August 28th at 12 noon. At the conclusion of sparring class at 7pm we will walk to Arby's to enjoy dinner together. Afterwards we are heading back to the new location to enjoy a movie together and play games. This party will last from 8pm-11pm. 

Thirdly, we are in need of financial contributions to purchase all of the new equipment for our new location. Supporters will be listed on our wall for their generosity to our programs. The items needed are heavy bag equipment, speed bags, and other workout material to make our school more well rounded. Without your help it will take a long time to get the teaching tools needed to accomplish our goals.

  We are also posting a new schedule for classes on our website. The changes help the adults to be earlier on Tues/Thur. Also this allows us to add another ladies kick boxing class on wednesday at 6:30-7pm and sparring will start at 7pm. Please take a closer look at the schedule to understand the changes. We are also expanding our MMA classes to include more of our Taekwon Do students.

 Finallly, we want to let you know that Mr. Titus Durojaiye is going to be taking a break from his duties as an instructor to focus more on school. He will be missed, and we wish him well in his studies and endeavors. Having said this, we are hiring three new instructors that have been students of Sun Belt for years. Once it is official I will post more information about these instructors.
